Mohamed Salah Extends Statement to Liverpool Dressing Room, Reveals Curtis Jones
Jones has shared that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the team following the controversy from his public comments.
What Happened
The striker was dropped from a European match following making accusations and stating his connection to the head coach had deteriorated.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I apologise.’”
Arne Slot has previously declined to reveal on whether he received a personal apology from the player.
Looking Ahead
The player stated that the squad's reaction stayed normal. “Nothing about him changed, his demeanour was positive and everybody was exactly the same with him,” the midfielder explained.
The midfielder also suggested that a competitor wanting to play is less of an issue. “It's clear there are different methods you can express yourself,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just not start, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
On-Field Response
Liverpool's form have been impressive in the matches since the interview fallout. Jones believes the outburst were not intended to destabilise the squad.
“In moments of frustration, it has consistently come from a desire to win,” he finished. “It's behind us and we’re building chemistry, playing well and on a positive run.”
