Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player specifically in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people hurt. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
