Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople announced on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.
Healing from Light Wounds
The sports star had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his management team confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.
Honoring the Deceased
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the loss of his two dear friends.”
The news of his discharge arrives after the global fight fans offered its support for the fighter in the wake of the devastating accident.
